Your Leading Medium-high Torque Shrink Discs Supplier

SUN AUTOMATION GROUP LIMITED was founded in 1986 and had been focusing on exporting high bearing ever since. We have a stock warehouse and provide a variety of stock bearings. For special and rare ones, we can distribute the goods to the agents in the country of origin of each brand. Our shrink discs are available in medium-high torque shrink discs and very-high torque shrink discs. By tightening the screws on the disc, the hub is compressed onto the shaft, forming a strong and reliable mechanical bond.

TLK603 55X100 Medium-High Torque Shrink Disc

Characteristics of Medium-high Torque Shrink Discs

Light design – Suitable for medium transmissible values when space is limited.
Slit inner ring – Low forces and pressures on hub and shaft.
Maximum reliability – Suitable for static, dynamic and impact loads.
Simplified manufacture – Only plain shaft and bore diameters with easily achieved surface finish and tolerances are required.
Easy replacement – The Shrink Disc is free from any form fit.
Easy mounting – No steps, keyways, splines are required, therefore hubs can be located and locked at any point or angle on the shaft. Shrink Discs use standard screws tightened with standard tools. No additional machining or fitting work is required.
Low susceptibility to contamination – When the locking screws are tightened the functional contact surfaces are pressed firmly together and prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.

Surface Treatment Methods for Medium-high Torque Shrink Discs

Phosphating Treatment

Phosphating is a chemical process that creates a protective phosphate coating on metal surfaces. It involves a chemical reaction between the metal workpiece and a phosphate solution, resulting in the formation of a crystalline layer. This layer enhances adhesion and provides excellent corrosion resistance.

Electroless Plating

Electroless Plating, also called chemical plating, traditionally classified as a subset of electroplating, represents a distinctive branch within the realm of electroplating. Its fundamental difference lies in the fact that chemical plating, doesn't rely on an external electrical current and the presence of an anode.

Installation Tips of Medium-high Torque Shrink Discs

Check all parts for dimensional accuracy. The hollow shaft OD should have a tolerance of h8. The maximum clearance between the shaft OD and hollow shaft ID is 0.007 inches (0.2 millimeters).

Wipe the hollow shaft ID and shaft OD. Both must be clean and dry—no grease or oil.

Check the surface finish on the shaft and hollow shaft. The finish should be between 32 and 125 RMS.

Place the support bushing on the hollow shaft. Light oil may be added to the support bushing only to assist with insertion.

Insert the shaft inside the hollow shaft with the support bushing. Make sure the shaft and hollow shaft have the correct tolerance. Light oil may be added to the support bushing only to assist with insertion.

Tighten the support bushing screw to the catalog-recommended torque. Use a calibrated torque wrench.

Place the Shrink Disc onto the hollow shaft OD. You may need to loosen the Shrink Disc screws first. To avoid permanent deformation of the hollow shaft, always maintain the full length of engagement between the shaft, hollow shaft and Shrink Disc.
Note—new Shrink Discs are properly lubricated. If you're reusing your Shrink Disc, first verify there is grease on the screws, under the screw heads and on the mating tapers. Also verify the screw threads have not been stretched.

Insert the clamp bushing between the shaft and hollow shaft. The clamp bushing is not reusable.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between shrink disc and locking assembly?

A: Locking assemblies with low surface pressure are primarily used for extremely thin-walled hubs or hubs made from materials with low yield strength, such as grey cast iron or aluminum. Two-piece shrink discs feature a very flat single taper and transmit the required torque similarly to a tapered interference fit.

Q: How to remove a shrink disc?

A: Gradually release each Shrink Disc screw. Use a circular pattern and work in quarter-turn increments. DO NOT remove the screws completely, as the outer ring may spring off.

Q: How do shrinking discs work?

A: These Shrinking Discs work on aluminium and steel and the secret to them is that they create heat through friction when spinning and touching the metal. When the area is cooled by either a squirt of soapy water or compressed air the heated area cools and shrinks.

Q: Can I have a sample order?

A: Yes, it is available to check quality first. Mixed samples are also acceptable.

Q: What about the lead time?

A: 3-7 days for samples, 3-4 weeks for mass production.

Q: What products do you offer?

A: Precision bearing, Thin section bearing, Slewing ring bearing, Rod ends bearing, Radial shaft seal, Ball bearing, Roller bearing, Plain bearing, Cam follower & Roller follower, Linear bearing, V-Belts, Timing belt, Poly-V belt, Split bearing, Shrink discs, Adapter sleeves, Rolling mill bearing, ecy.
